Being the new kid on the block with Sleeping Giant Music, I’m constantly looking to prove my self in this industry. This business we work in is a 100% based on relationships, so it can be difficult at times trying to sell the artist to clients who I haven’t worked with before. Some guidelines I like to follow are the following:
1. Make a good impression – Usually, it’s only a matter of minutes before you know if someone is interested in what you are selling. So make sure you do everything possible to catch the buyer’s attention.
2. Be Confident – When working with many true veterans of this industry, sometimes conversation’s can get sour real quick. That’s why it’s your job to do all your homework on the client/venue to make sure you know what you are talking about. You always want to be in charge of the conversation so you don’t get caught slipping!
3. Never take no for answer – Do what it takes to succeed! If that means following up every day with texts/calls/emails do it! You have to stay on the client’s daily because they can get lost real quick in the shuffle.
These are just a few of the guidelines I like to follow. Over time, I hope I will gain all the necessary tools to make me successful in this industry.
