With my six year Anniversary at Sleeping Giant just passing, I thought it would be cool to chat about how to turn your internship into a job. Here are a few tips and tricks to grab your employers attention!

1. Persistence

– At the end of the day, I truly believe it’s your job to get the most out of your internship. Ask questions, get involved and participate. Do what you can to soak up all the knowledge and experience you can.

2. Initiative

– Taking to lead on projects and assignments, bring new strategies to the table. Personally, I think taking the initiative within your internship can really show you’re true colors with an employer.

3. Going the extra mile

– The year was 2013 and the staff was taking its annual trip out to Miami for music week. I was so eager to go and see what all the fuss was about. I decided to let my supervisors know I wanted to go out to Miami on my own time and money to shadow and learn the tools and the trade of music week. The team was shocked and almost didn’t believe I was going to make the trip. Once I called there bluff, the team truly saw I was in this for the love and passion of the industry after all.

From my internship, I was grateful that I got a chance to hang around the company and was brought on as a part-time employee for a few jobs within SGM. Later that year, there was a job opening and I fully took advantage of my opportunity and never looked back.
